BAYKO Parts List - 1962 to 1964

Detailed below are the complete parts lists for the BAYKO sets from the production between August, 1962 and 1964, when Lines Brothers took over MECCANO. It should, however, be remembered that BAYKO was still included in the September, 1967 MECCANO products price list and there is a BAYKO spare parts reorder form from the same year.

Sets were still in the orange-red, cream and yellow colour scheme but changed to red, white and yellow with the 'Flanged' bricks. This change was never completed and only set #11 could be full manufactured in this style, though set #12 only misses the correct style of Red Half Bricks. After the takeover by TRI-ANG in 1964 quality standards went down hill, and mixed colour sets were not uncommon.

The following colour codes refer to the elements in the main table [below] : -
The range of BAYKO parts, highlighted in Blue in the main table, [below] were all newly launched, in 1962, in the #15 Set and, of course, the #14C Conversion Set…
…and were also available separately.
These parts were originally produced in Cream POLYSTYRENE as earlier…
…but were retooled, late in 1963, as part of the 'Flanged Bricks' changes…
…to a crisp White plastic.
The equivalent Red pieces were similarly retooled to a crisp Red plastic…

…though, for some reason, Red Half Bricks were excluded from this exercise - at least as far as I have been able to determine so far…
Although logic would decree that the Garage Doors [A.K.A. Opening Doors] wouldn't have been retooled as they were only present in set #13 and larger, I do possess just a few examples with a White, rather than a Cream, brickwork panel, like the one on the model [right] and…
…exactly the same argument applies to the Arch, but, as you can see in the same model [above, right] a few, retooled, White Arches do exist.
The eagle-eyed amongst you may notice that the quantities of a set #15 are not the same as the contents of a set #14 plus the contents of a set #14C as you might reasonably expect…
…do not adjust your set(!), this was deliberate penny-pinching by Mr. MECCANO.
Strangely, to date, the earliest mention of these new BAYKO parts that I have come across, dates from as early as January, 1962, and comes from the [West] German market…

Firstly, the standard manual for sets #11 to 14 [left]…
Model #B15.1, the first of the 12 model sheets issued with sets #15 and #14C
Secondly, a later version, date-coded March, 1964.
Thirdly, a set of 12 model plan leaflets [right], plus a new parts sheet, was issued with sets #15 and #14C…
Malcolm Hanson has built all twelve of the suggested set #15 models…
