The MECCANO Takeover

Detailed below are the complete parts lists for the BAYKO sets from the production between 1960 and 1962, the first since the takeover, by MECCANO, in 1959.

A pair of semis with detatched garages built with MECCANO era parts
Sets were now in the orange-red, cream and yellow colour scheme, with most parts made from POLYSTYRENE.
BAYKO was completely retooled following the MECCANO takeover with almost all of the decorative parts being dropped from the range.
BAYKO was effectively, certainly in marketing terms, off the market for twelve months during the retooling process, which didn't help the product's long-term viability, though some stocks of Plimpton style product were produced.
The parts highlighted in cream in the main table [below] are officially White, but are, in reality, a deep Cream, sometimes almost Beige.

MECCANO saw no need to change the tried and tested format established over the previous quarter century and this manual clearly mirrors the Plimpton format.
