The MECCANO Takeover

Detailed below are the complete parts lists for the BAYKO sets from the production between 1960 and 1962, the first since the takeover, by MECCANO, in 1959.

Sets were now in the orange-red, cream and yellow colour scheme, with almost all parts manufactured in polystyrene.
A pair of semis with detatched garages built with MECCANO era parts
BAYKO was completely retooled following the MECCANO takeover with almost all of the decorative parts being dropped from the range.
BAYKO was effectively off the market for twelve months during the retooling process which didn't help the product's long-term viability.
The parts highlighted in cream are officially White, but in reality are a deep Cream, sometimes almost Beige.

Just one BAYKO manual was available during the first couple of years of the MECCANO era...
MECCANO saw no need to change the tried and tested format established over the previous quarter century and this manual clearly mirrors the Plimpton format.
