BAYKO Parts List - 1949 to 1959

Detailed below are the complete parts lists for the BAYKO sets from the production between 1949 and 1959, which included both the peak and the beginning of the end of BAYKO.
I hope you find this useful - if you've spotted an error in the list or want to debate any of the figures...
 
Sets were now in the red, white and mid-green colour scheme, the latter drifting to a lighter green as the polystyrene windows were introduced.

There is some debate over why the post-war BAYKO set structure changed so significantly from the pre-war structure...

The #4 Sets included this recently launched range of new parts which are highlighted in green ink below.
The Corner Bricks contents [6 x red & 18 white] are illogical...
...8 x red & 16 x white would make far more sense for building!
The parts highlighted in blue were not included in the earliest #4 Sets or the #3X conversion sets.
The parts highlighted in red were introduced in the late 1950's but only detailed in the last published parts list. MECCANO Magazine hints at them in May 1958, but the Garage Doors were launched in 1959.
The inclusion of the Garage Doors in set #2x is correct, but illogical...
This period now had the largest range of parts at any time in BAYKO's history.

The #4 set was first advertised in MECCANO Magazine in February 1952, the #3X Conversion Set was actually advertised earlier, in August 1951 to be exact.
Until the late 1950's, this was the most commercially successful period for BAYKO.
Materials used to make many of the Brick, Window and Door pieces gradually migrated from plastic to polystyrene during this period.

...the first [left] was short lived and was produced in 1949 for BAYKO sets #0 to 3...

This was then replaced by the manual [right] which was re-issued in several versions during the 1950's...
As set #3X [1951] and set #4 [1952] were launched, additional manuals were needed to support them.
