BAYKO Parts List - 1939 to 1941
'New Series'

Detailed below are the complete parts lists for the BAYKO sets from the production between 1939 and 1941. They bore the legend 'New Series', to distinguish them from the earlier sets. Although, of course, all the 'New Series' parts were fully compatible with earlier parts, the set structure wasn't and so Plimpton took the decision to continue to make the earlier conversion sets available, throughout this period.
This marked the culmination of a very significant period of transition for BAYKO and built on the innovations of the special 20s series sets. The basic parts and methodology combination established here remained unchanged for the rest of BAYKO's life.

Sets remained in the red, white and pale green colour scheme.
This was the last production period before the war with no further changes to the range until the post-war period.

These sets saw the launch of several new BAYKO parts all of which, including the less glamorous ones, are highlighted in yellow in the main table [below].
This is the only printed mention, that I can find, of the actual Screw Size…
The Small Roof was renamed the Medium Roof 'to make room' in the list for the new [smaller] Small Roof.
Windows were re-modelled in the 'cruciform' style.
At some stage, almost certainly late 1941, BAYKO production ceased to focus on the war effort.
There is some debate as to whether or not Wall Capping was included in the #6 Set. They weren't included in the parts list but they were used for some of the demonstration models shown in the manual. Chris Reeve bought an apparently 'unadulterated' set with these quantities in. Can you clarify this, or confirm the correct number included. If so…
The only other evidence I can find, which suggests they were included, is from features in 'Games & Toys' and 'Toy Trader'.

There was one last change [below] in 'New Series' BAYKO set contents, which was instigated as a matter of necessity, caused by wartime material shortages…

Around 1940, there was a brief flirtation with Hollow Rods in an attempt to save scarce raw materials.

At some point, probably 1940, not long before the war finally halted BAYKO production, Tie-Bars were replaced by Floors in the proportions shown below. This relates to the lack of metal for Tie Bars.
