BAYKO Parts List - 1937 to 1938

Detailed below are the complete parts lists for the BAYKO sets from the production period from just before Christmas 1937 to mid 1938.
Detatched house with chauffer's garage built with product from this period
Sets #1 to #5 were now in the red, white and light green colour scheme.
Set #6 remained in the 'Oak' and white colour scheme.
There was no 5A conversion set as the colour scheme of the #6 set still remained incompatible with the smaller sets.
The photos show models made from product from this period and clearly show the two different colours schemes.
I hope you find this useful - if you've spotted an error in the list or want to debate any of the figures...
.
BAYKO, at this point, was made throughout from BAKELITE...
.
This was the first style of manual to be 'purpose built' for sets #1 to #6.
Front cover of both the first manuals for sets #1 to #6
There were 2 versions of this manual in existence...
...indeed the earlier version actually started during the previous period...
Later in this period Plimpton modified and reprinted the manual...
Strangely, both versions of the manual for sets #1 to #6 which were in circulation from late 1935 to 1938 contain errors in the contents lists shown for several of the conversion sets...
...initially I thought this may be due to the contents changes initiated in 1935, but that doesn't answer all the questions, particularly why they still weren't corrected in the later version...
.
The parts highlighted below were predominantly exclusive to the #6 set.
Oak model on mottled bases from the 20 series sets
Just to confuse matters, according to the last version of the sets #1 to #6 manual, Plimpton apparently added 1 Window to the #6 Set contents...
...they then reverted to 89 when the red and white version of the #6 set was introduced in mid 1938.
Further confusion is caused by a change, probably in late 1938, away from Binding Strips to Straight Tie-Bars, which only seems to have been recorded in labels on the inside of set lids.
These figures for the quantities of Rods in the Conversion Sets are as shown in the manual - but they are wrong!!! Thanks to Bob Burgess for starting me checking on this subject.
I can't explain this anomaly at all, but these quantities, as shown for Conversion Sets in the manuals, are not correct, I believe, but are shown for completeness
Finally, 3-Hole Wall Capping only appeared in the set #6 contents list in the final version of the sets #1 to #6 manual, but I'm confident that they were always included in the actual sets...
...6-Hole Wall capping was made by cutting a 9-Hole Wall Capping - leaving a 3-Hole Wall Capping which presumably wasn't thrown away!
