BAYKO Sets #1 to #6 Instruction Manual
- 1937? to 1938
This was the second style of Instruction Manual produced by Plimpton following the launch of their flagship BAYKO set - the "De-Luxe" set #6. |
Unfortunately there's no printer's code so I can't be more precise with the date, but this is the later version of this style of manual and was in circulation from 1937-ish until the launch of the 'New Series' sets in 1939. |

| It carries the self explanatory information that : - |
|
"In place of the Binding Strips small metal Tie Bars have been substituted, these being more convenient and less noticeable in the final model." |

The model of a bungalow [page 14, below] is the same as that in the first BAYKO manual... |

...and has the same error with white Windows shown either side of the porch. |

This style of BAYKO manual was the first to mention the Ornamental Additions Sets, unfortunately, on page 69, they mistakenly referred to "Red and Oak Arches" instead of "Green and Oak Arches". |

The pages below which are shown against a pale blue background like this are the pages which were changed from the earlier version - most relate to slight changes in set contents. |

It comprises 72 black and white pages, most including photos printed on white low gloss paper, with a full colour front cover printed on thicker white paper. |
||
Size - 191mm x 154mm = 7.6 x 6.1 inches. |

If you look at the bases used in the pictures for sets #1 to #5 you'll see that they aren't BAYKO bases at all, but varnished and drilled to provide the necessary holes... |
...the evidence is just about visible in the photographs, because you can see the occasional hole drilled for a previous model as the "bases" were re-used for different models... |
