BAYKO in 'Toy Trader', April, 1962

This was the fourth feature, which mentioned BAYKO, to appear, during the MECCANO era, in 'Toy Trader', a leading publication of the day for the British toy trade.

The core of this ”advertising puff” is an all too small photograph of the model of the Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada which had been shown at the MECCANO trade fair in London earlier in the year.
The brief item scarcely does justice to the excellent model at its heart : -
Bayko Highlights
The scope of Bayko is effectively demonstrated in this fine model of the head office building of the Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada.
This reproduction of what has been described as an ”architectural jewel” earned much favourable comment from the buyers at the recent Meccano trade fair in London.
The building has graced the Montreal skyline for 30 years and rises to a height of 400ft. In the construction of the Bayko model, 11,648 separate parts were used.
The model is a little over three feet tall and must have looked stunning - nice one Mr. MECCANO - another great model built by Bob Moy and his team.

If you are interested in this, or other, large BAYKO models, built by Plimpton or MECCANO
My apologies that the photo of the model is somewhat grainy, this is down to a combination of the original 'Toy Trader', image, probably supplied by MECCANO, and the copy quality of the photocopy supplied to me by the British Library Newspaper Section in Colindale.
As an aside, I actually went into this stunning building and spoke to the Building Management people. I asked them if there were any surviving images or paperwork in their archives relating to this excellent model.  They said they would look into it and get back to me…
…alas!!!
BAYKO was a regular advertiser in 'Toy Trader'
